Women currently make up only 32% of State House members nationwide.
We already know women are strong and effective leaders, but they are rarely encouraged to pursue public office. By empowering women to run in key states, we will fight for equal opportunity and representation in local and state legislatures nationwide.
Research shows that gender of a legislator can have a substantial impact on the policy priorities legislatures pursue. As more women secure elected positions, there is a discernible increase in policies that place emphasis on enhancing the quality of life and addressing the concerns of families, women, as well as communities of color and other groups that have been historically ignored.
Attaining gender parity in government will not only foster empowerment among women and families, but would also serve to fortify our democratic system and benefit the entire nation.
