The First Ask Celebrates Wins in the Michigan Primaries

Washington, DC- Following yesterday’s primary elections in Michigan, DC-based PAC The First Ask is celebrating wins across the state. Three of the group’s endorsed candidates won their elections and will be on the ballot in November.

The First Ask congratulates the following candidates in advancing to the general election on November 3, 2026:

  • Joanna Whaley, Michigan HD-2

  • Kimberly Fisher, Michigan HD-11

  • Rebecca Amidon, Michigan SD-32

The First Ask has seen first hand the time, energy, and dedication each candidate has put into their race so far. Getting an early start is crucial for candidates running in competitive districts this Fall.

Caroline Welles, Executive Director of The First Ask, issued the following statement:

We are so proud of our candidates and the early successes they have had. Our candidates have hit the ground running by connecting with voters and developing community ties throughout this primary season. I have seen the sort of ground game they are running and am confident in their ability to carry this momentum through November 3.

The First Ask is a 527 political action committee dedicated to identifying and supporting Democratic women to run for State Chambers nationwide. The organization advocates for proportionate gender representation in state legislatures by increasing the share of women serving in legislatures from 32% to 51%.
