The First Ask Congratulates Katie Brennan on Her Victory in New Jersey State Assembly District 32

Washington, DC – The First Ask endorsed candidate Katie Brennan has successfully moved past the primary and will be one of the two Democratic nominees for New Jersey State Assembly District 32.

Brennan, a housing policy expert and political staffer, ran on her expertise, ability to navigate the system, and her previous successes in reducing the cost of housing in New Jersey and across the country.

Hoboken mayor Ravi Bhalla will accompany Brennan as the Democratic candidates in the General Election this November. Both Brennan and Bhalla ran as independent Democrats, not a part of any large slate, aiming to take on the machine.

Executive Director of The First Ask, Caroline Welles, has made the following statement regarding Brennan’s victory:

“Congratulations to Katie for moving to the General Election! Katie has spent her entire life proving and delivering on her dedication to creating a more affordable, sustainable, and resilient future. Katie has shown time and time again that she knows how to bring results home to her community. In addition to her work as a policy expert, Katie’s work advocating for survivors of sexual assault brings hope to survivors everywhere. The First Ask is so proud of Katie and proud to continue to support her through November!”

The First Ask is a 527 political action committee dedicated to identifying and supporting Democratic women to run for State Chambers nationwide. The organization advocates for proportionate gender representation in state legislatures by increasing the share of women serving in legislatures from 32% to 51%.
