The First Ask Celebrates Their 100% Win Rate in the 2025 General Election

Washington, DC – All of The First Ask endorsed candidates have won the general election and will be heading up to their state legislature to represent their districts. Every candidate in Virginia managed to flip their seats from red to blue, unseating Republican incumbents who wanted to follow party lines and deprive citizens of healthcare.

The First Ask congratulates:

  • Katie Brennan, New Jersey Assembly District 32

  • May Nivar, Virginia State House District 57

  • Stacey Carroll, Virginia State House District 64

  • Lindsey Dougherty, Virginia State House District 75

  • Leslie Mehta, Virginia State House District 73

  • Kacey Carnegie, Virginia State House District 89

  • Lily Franklin, Virginia State House District 41

  • Nicole Cole, Virginia State House District 66

The First Ask has seen immense success this year, growing from last year’s primary success rate of 90%, to this year reaching 100%. In the 2025 general election, The First Ask endorsed eight candidates in the general election, with seven of them facing hyper-competitive elections in the heart of Virginia. The First Ask is deeply proud of our seven Virginia candidates who flipped their seats.

The First Ask has been working hard behind the scenes to ensure candidates are set up for success. The First Ask provides well rounded support; producing communications and strategic deliverables, conducting voter contact operations, and providing development and opposition research. Through constant communication with members each campaign, The First Ask is able to meet and exceed the needs of their candidates through their pioneer strategy and collaborative communication principles.

The First Ask congratulates their candidates for all the hard work they put into this campaign cycle. Each candidate went above and beyond to bring meaningful change to their communities and fight for what they believe in. The First Ask is so proud of their 2025 candidates!

The First Ask is a 527 political action committee dedicated to identifying and supporting Democratic women to run for State Chambers nationwide. The organization advocates for proportionate gender representation in state legislatures by increasing the share of women serving in legislatures from 32% to 51%.
