The First Ask Congratulates Lily Franklin on Her Success in the 2025 General Election

Washington, DC – The First Ask endorsed candidate Lily Franklin has won the general election with 51% of the vote and will now represent Virginia’s 41st district in the House of Delegates.

Franklin, a Southwest Virginia native and former math teacher, previously served as Chief of Staff to a state delegate, focusing on microgrants for farmers, housing protections for domestic violence survivors, and clean drinking water laws. She ran on a platform that included affordable home ownership, education, economic growth, and expanding healthcare access.

Executive Director of The First Ask, Caroline Welles, has made the following statement regarding Franklin’s victory:

“Congratulations to Lily for her victory in the 2025 general election! Lily has spent her life fighting to improve the status quo for her community, working to make sure voices in Southwest Virginia are heard and that communities receive the resources they need. Lily is standing up for her community, prioritizing working families at every opportunity, and making the 41st district a better place. The First Ask is so proud of Lily!”

The First Ask is a 527 political action committee dedicated to identifying and supporting Democratic women to run for State Chambers nationwide. The organization advocates for proportionate gender representation in state legislatures by increasing the share of women serving in legislatures from 32% to 51%.
