The First Ask Congratulates Kacey Carnegie on Her Success in the 2025 General Election
Washington, DC – The First Ask endorsed candidate Kacey Carnegie has won the general election with 52% of the vote and flipped the seat. Kacey will now represent Virginia’s 89th district in the House of Delegates.
Carnegie, a mother, local attorney, and community leader, is heavily involved in her community; leading two Girl Scout troops, serving as president of the dance moms, and holding various leadership roles in the Ruritan Club. Kacey’s priorities included building a community-first economy, ensuring safer communities, and investing in education for every child.
Executive Director of The First Ask, Caroline Welles, has made the following statement regarding Carnegie’s victory:
“Congratulations to Kacey for her victory in the 2025 general election! Kacey had an amazing turnout in a competitive district, showing the power of authentic leadership and campaigning. Her experience as an attorney and years of community involvement has prepared her well to be a fierce advocate for her district. The First Ask is so proud of Kacey!”
The First Ask is a 527 political action committee dedicated to identifying and supporting Democratic women to run for State Chambers nationwide. The organization advocates for proportionate gender representation in state legislatures by increasing the share of women serving in legislatures from 32% to 51%.
