The First Ask Congratulates May Nivar on Her Success in the 2025 General Election
Washington, DC – The First Ask endorsed candidate May Nivar has won the general election with almost 56% of the vote and will now represent Virginia’s 57th district in the House of Delegates.
May Nivar, a business leader, community leader, and mom of three, was appointed to the Virginia Asian Advisory Board by Governor Terry McAuliffe, where she served as Vice Chair and Chair. She was also recognized as a “Noteworthy Asian Pacific American of Virginia” by Governor Ralph Northam. Nivar ran on a platform that included ensuring equal protection and safety for all Virginians, expanding healthcare and reproductive access, and lowering the cost of living.
Executive Director of The First Ask, Caroline Welles, has made the following statement regarding Nivar’s victory:
“Congratulations to May for her victory in the 2025 general election! May has spent the past decade holding various leadership positions driving meaningful change in her community. Her experience in small and large businesses, non-profits, and government organizations makes her uniquely qualified to guide the 57th district towards a brighter future. The First Ask is so proud of May!”
