The First Ask Announces their Support for Democrat Amanda Treppa running for Michigan Senate District 10

Washington, DC — The First Ask has announced its support for Amanda Treppa, a Democrat running to represent newly redistricted Michigan Senate Seat 10. Treppa was born into homelessness and lived in the foster care system until she was adopted by a family in Macomb County. Now, Treppa is an advocate for working families, equity, and opportunity, working at Detroit Action and helping pass the Workplace Psychological Safety Act in Michigan and Connecticut.

Following redistricting, Senate District 10 spans Oakland and Macomb counties. The area is currently represented by Senator Mallory McMorrow, who recently announced a bid for Michigan’s open United States Senate seat in 2026.

Caroline Welles, Executive Director of The First Ask, issued the following statement on the endorsement:

“There are two counties in this district: Macomb, where Amanda was raised, and Oakland, where Amanda is raising her daughter. Amanda has such a deep connection to this district and is a proven leader who I know will deliver results for the community she loves so much. This is our first endorsement of 2026—somethign we don’t take lightly. With everything going on at the Federal level, we need fighters in our state legislatures who will work to protect their communities against the loudest voices in the countries. I can’t think of anyone who exemplifies this more than Amanda. We are proud to endorse her!”

The First Ask is a 527 political action committee dedicated to identifying and supporting Democratic women to run for State Chambers nationwide. The organization advocates for proportionate gender representation in state legislatures by increasing the share of women serving in legislatures from 32% to 51%.
