The First Ask Announces their Support for Democrat Lily Franklin running for Virginia House of Delegates District 41

Washington, DC — The First Ask has announced its support for Lily Franklin, a Democrat running to represent Virginia House of Delegates 41st District. Franklin previously ran for the seat in 2023 and came within 183 votes of flipping the seat blue. Franklin is a former teacher who has led policy initiatives as a staffer in the House of Delegates.

Caroline Welles, Executive Director of The First Ask, issued the following statement on the endorsement:

“Lily’s record as a Staffer in the House of Delegates has proven she knows how to deliver material results to make the lives of her community better. The election results in 2023 showed that this district is ready for substantive change and I can’t think of a person more well equipped to bring that change. Lily knows the problems that she and her neighbors in rural Virginia face—and how to navigate the systems that can bring real change. We are incredibly proud to support her!”

The First Ask is a 527 political action committee dedicated to identifying and supporting Democratic women to run for State Chambers nationwide. The organization advocates for proportionate gender representation in state legislatures by increasing the share of women serving in legislatures from 32% to 51%.
