The First Ask Celebrates Groundbreaking Wins in the Kansas House

Washington, DC – Following yesterday’s general elections, national progressive PAC The First Ask is celebrating all four of their Kansas candidates winning. All of these seats have flipped from Republican to Democrat control, breaking the Kansas Republican supermajority.

The First Ask congratulates the following candidates winning their seats in the Kansas State House:

  • Sherry Giebler HD-14

  • Amelia Wiederaenders HD-30

  • Emily Blanks HD-33

  • Candace Landers HD-88

Caroline Welles, Executive Director of The First Ask, issued the following statement:

“Kansas is a state that has shown a lot of promise for Democrats, between Governor Kelly serving, the 2022 abortion referendum, and the close Senate race this year. Despite this, national Democratic infrastructure has not been sufficiently invested in the state. I think we, and all the other hardworking organizers focused on Kansas, have made a case for why Kansas matters.”

These wins are just part of a larger national project, with The First Ask electing 28 women this year.

The First Ask is a PAC dedicated to electing Democratic women to state legislatures nationwide. The organization advocates for proportionate gender representation in state legislatures and progressive change.
