The First Ask Congratulates Lindsey Dougherty on Her Success in the 2025 General Election

Washington, DC – The First Ask endorsed candidate Lindsey Dougherty has won the general election with over 52% of the vote and will now represent Virginia’s 75th district in the House of Delegates. 

Lindsey Dougherty, a lifelong public servant running, currently works as a Senior Research Administrator at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has experience in the Chesterfield County government and with volunteering for underserved youth in the juvenile justice system. She ran on a platform that included expanding access to education, reforming the Virginia healthcare system, and protecting civil rights. 

Executive Director of The First Ask, Caroline Welles, has made the following statement regarding Dougherty’s victory:

“Congratulations to Lindsey for her victory in the 2025 general election! Lindsey has dedicated her life to public service, spending her time volunteering with groups that work to expand healthcare access for children and to support single mothers. She is dedicated to ensuring that those in her district are safe, happy, and engaged with their neighbors, and will continue to fight for her community as an elected official.  The First Ask is so proud of Lindsey!”

The First Ask is a 527 political action committee dedicated to identifying and supporting Democratic women to run for State Chambers nationwide. The organization advocates for proportionate gender representation in state legislatures by increasing the share of women serving in legislatures from 32% to 51%.
